Kwara United to play NPFL home matches in Ibadan

Barring any last-minute change, the management of NPFL side Kwara United has concluded plans to adopt the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan for their home games at the new NPFL abridged format season scheduled to begin on January 8, 2023.

The Informant247 gathered that the decision was made as a result of the ongoing re-grassing of Kwara state stadium which might not be ready in a couple of months.

Kwara united has been drawn in Group A alongside,Nasarawa United, Plateau United, Gombe United, El-Kanemi Warriors,Enyimba FC, Akwa United, Bendel Insurance, Shooting Stars and Remo Stars.

The Harmony boys will face Gombe United in their first match of the new season which happens to be a home fixture.

Kwara United finished fourth on the log last season and were circumstantially chosen by the league board to represent the country as the second team in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The team eventually crashed out in the second preliminary round of the Confederation Cup after losing on goal agregate to RS Berkane of Morocco.

Recall that the club had also adopted the Mobolaji Johnson arena, Onikan Stadium in Lagos as it home ground for it Confederation Cup engagements.
