It was a poor show for the Kwara United on Sunday as the team lost to visiting Lobi Stars in the NPFL matchday 17.
The Harmony boys showed glimpses of ambition in the early minutes of the game but a defensive error saw them going behind the visitors in the 21st minute with Godwin Oshagbemi’s own goal.
Kwara United tried to fall back to the but their cutting edge failed to muster the needed accuracy. Sadiq Yusuf almost got them an equaliser in the 28th minute but his effort went wayward.
Again, the visitors before the end of the first half leveraged on yet another defensive blunder and Stanley Oganbor wasted no time to beat goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba to double the lead for Lobi Stars.
Kwara United were later presented with an opportunity to reduce the deficit from the spot but Paul Samson failed to score a penalty as Goalkeeper Lucky Jimoh pointed it into safety.
Despite the introduction of new legs, Kwara United failed to make meaningful impact upward and the visitors grew more ambitious.
The victory sees Lobi Stars become a joint table leader alongside Remo Stars with 32 points while Kwara United dropped to 14th with 19 points.
The Harmony boys were left frustrated with the result which saw most of their fans disheartened as they came all out to watch the team’s first game in the new year.
More to that, the game was again a reflection of a topsy-turvy performance so far in the current season.
