Kwara SDP holds congress in Ilorin, elects new excos

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has conducted its joint state, local government, and ward congress in Ilorin, where party members from across the state gathered at the party secretariat to elect new executives at all levels.

The exercise was officially declared open by the Electoral Chairman, Ilesanmi Damilola, in the presence of INEC officials, including Mr. Okpanachi Ojodale, Head of Department, Election and Party Monitoring (EPM), and Oyinole Charles, Head of Unit, Election Monitoring.

Chairman of the Congress, Dr. Apaokagi Ridwan, described the exercise as an affirmation of executives across the state, local governments, and wards, noting that the process reflects the party’s internal democracy and unity.

The congress unanimously adopted and ratified the list of executives for the state, local government, and ward levels.

Dr. Apaokagi charged the newly elected officers to remain proactive and committed, describing their emergence as a call to service and an opportunity to etch their names in the annals of history.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected State Chairman, Barrister Sarafadeen Ibrahim, expressed gratitude to party members, describing his emergence as a call to service and pledging to lead the party toward greater success in the state.

He highlighted the SDP’s rich historical background dating back to the military era and emphasized that the party prioritizes competence over zoning in Kwara State politics.

Barrister Sarafadeen also described the congress as a significant milestone, noting that it fulfilled the constitutional requirements set by the electoral body.

The congress ratified Barrister Sarafadeen Ibrahim as State Chairman and Ibrahim Olamilekan Quadir as State Secretary, alongside other executives elected across various levels of the party structure.
