Ilias Sanni picks APC nomination form for Ilorin East assembly race
Community leader and architect, Ilias Sanni, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest to represent Ilorin East constituency at the state assembly in the forthcoming 2027 election.
Sanni made this known shortly after obtaining the forms, formally announcing his intention to run under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Addressing party leaders, elders, stakeholders and residents of the constituency, he said, “I stand before you today in full cognizance of the responsibilities that come with political ambition.”
He added that his decision to contest followed a careful evaluation of the needs of Ilorin East.
He explained that his professional training as an architect shaped his approach to governance, noting that he had critically assessed the current state of representation, infrastructure and the expectations of the people before declaring his ambition.
He said his candidacy “is not an entitlement but a contract,” stressing that he would be guided by clearly defined commitments if elected.
On his legislative agenda, Sanni said he would focus on rural development, small business support and protection of public assets, also pledging to strengthen engagement with constituents through an accessible office and regular town hall meetings across all wards.
“I will operate a fully accessible constituency office and hold quarterly town hall meetings across all wards,” he said.
Speaking on empowerment, he promised to introduce structured skills development programmes for youths and women in partnership with relevant state agencies, with measurable outcomes.
He furthered that he would prioritise oversight functions to ensure that infrastructure projects meet acceptable standards in the constituency.
Sanni appealed to party delegates and members to support his aspiration, stating, “I offer not rhetoric but competence. I offer not political patronage but consistent presence.”
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and expressed support for the administration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, adding that his goal is to ensure Ilorin East benefits from ongoing development efforts.
He also called for peaceful conduct among aspirants and their supporters, urging them to prioritise unity.
“The ultimate winner is Ilorin East, and no political contest should divide us,” he said.
