Kwara may enter second phase of lockdown as reported COVID-19 cases increase

The Kwara State Government on Saturday expressed worries over the upsurge in the number of recorded cases of COVID-19 rose to 180 between 11th November and 11th December 2020 after it had already reported to have been declining.

According to the statement signed by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee on COVID-19, Dr Femi Oladiji, “the cross sectional studies conducted by a team of researchers of the Medical Advisory Sub-Committee on Covid-19 Kwara State reported that between 11th July – 11th August 2020 the total number of confirmed cases was 500, whereas between 11th September – 11th October 2020, the total number of confirmed cases dropped to 63. However, between 11th November and 11thDecember 2020, the total number of confirmed cases rose to 180, ” the statement read in part.

 

Oladiji noted that the state has entered the second wave of the virus due to the rise in the number of reported cases between November-December of this year advising the residents to abide by the safety precautions.
