Kwara govt takes delivery of renovated Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre
The Kwara State Government has officially taken delivery of the renovated Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre following the completion of rehabilitation works at the facility damaged by fire last year.
The inspection and handover ceremony was held on Friday at the centre, with officials from the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in attendance.
Speaking during the exercise, the Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for approving the renovation project, describing the intervention as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the welfare and protection of vulnerable residents in the state.
Represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply in the ministry, Mrs. Grace Toyin Taiwo, the commissioner said the renovation of the facilities and construction of a perimeter fence had greatly improved safety and living conditions at the centre.
She added that the ministry would continue to prioritise the care and protection of vulnerable groups across the state.
Also speaking, the Head of Department, Architecture, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Kolade Funsho Olushola, disclosed that the contractor notified the ministry of the project’s completion about two weeks before the final inspection.
According to him, the ministry’s assessment confirmed that the project was executed in line with approved standards, paving the way for the official handover.
Officials at the inspection confirmed that the contractor, Muluda Nig. Limited, delivered the project according to specifications approved by the state government.
In his remarks, the Project Engineer of the company, Engr. Samson Oyeleke, appreciated the Kwara State Government and the ministries involved for the confidence placed in the firm.
He said the successful completion of the project reflected the strong working relationship between the contractor and the state government, while assuring that the company would maintain its commitment to quality service delivery.
The rehabilitation project covered the renovation of the male and female hostels, dining hall, matron’s quarters, as well as the construction of a perimeter fence around the facility.
The centre suffered significant damage following a fire outbreak on February 18, 2025, which affected major sections of the facility.
The state government later awarded the rehabilitation and fencing contract to Muluda Nig. Limited on September 10, 2025.
