Kwara South group commends MOK Foundation over distribution of farm inputs

Members of the Kwara South Jowuros have commended the MOK Foundation for distributing farm inputs to farmers across communities in the senatorial district, describing the initiative as a major boost to agricultural activities ahead of the planting season.

The commendation was made during a radio programme where representatives of the Fulani traditional titleholders spoke on the impact of the intervention on rural farmers in the area.

According to the group, the distribution of fertilisers, improved seedlings and agrochemicals would ease the burden on smallholder farmers who have struggled with the rising cost of farm inputs in recent years.

The Jowuros noted that the support would not only improve food production but also encourage greater participation in agriculture, especially among young people in rural communities.

They described the intervention as timely, saying many farmers in Kwara South had faced challenges accessing quality farming materials due to economic pressures.

The traditional leaders also urged other individuals, organisations and stakeholders to emulate the grassroots support initiative of the foundation, stressing that agriculture remains central to the economy and livelihood of people in the region.

They further appealed to beneficiaries to make proper use of the distributed items and avoid diversion in order to ensure that the intended impact is felt across communities.

The MOK Foundation, established by philanthropist Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, has carried out interventions in sectors including education, healthcare and agriculture across Kwara State.

The Jowuros reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting rural development and strengthening food security in Kwara South.
