The Kwara State Government reiterated its willingness to partner with individuals and companies to develop the agricultural sector in the State.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hajia Maryam Nurudeen Mohammed stated this while receiving bags of improved seeds of Soya Beans donated by the Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC) at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Ilorin.
Hajia Mohammed noted that the partnership would greatly complement the State Government’s strides in repositioning the State’s Agricultural sector, adding that the gesture would also assist in boosting Soya Beans production and enhancing farmers’ productivity in the State.
Appreciating the RMRDC, the Permanent Secretary called for a greater partnership in tree production, especially on Shea Butter to improve the state economy and mitigate the effects of deforestation.
While presenting the Farm Input, the State Coordinator, Raw Material Research and Development Council, Mrs Lydia Olufunke Adewumi, explained that the agency is saddled with the responsibility of encouraging development and optimal utilisation of local raw materials as inputs for indigenous industries.
Mrs Adewumi said that the programme tagged ‘boosting’ aimed at boosting agricultural raw materials in the State. She added that the agency works against the scarcity of certain crops because of their utility for human consumption and local industries.
