Kwara gov orders appointees seeking to contest in 2023 elections to resign by Friday

Relying on the electoral act amendment signed into law by the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has asked political appointees in the state seeking to contest for elective offices in 2023 to submit their letters of resignation before April 15.

The instruction was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Mamman Saba Jibril.

It reads, “In line with provision of Section 84 (12) of the new Electoral Act, all Kwara State Government’s appointees seeking nominations for elective offices in the forthcoming primaries are hereby directed to resign”.

All resignation letters are to be submitted to the office of the Secretary to the Kwara State Government not later than 15th April, 2022″

Some serving commissioners and aides of the governor have indicated an interest in some elective positions ranging from the state House of Assembly to the Senate.
