Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi on Thursday, September 17 visited dwellers of riverine areas in Patigi following a flood disaster, which wreaked a huge havoc on properties of the residents.
Mr. Alabi, who first made a courtesy call at the palace of Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, said the visit was to assess the level of destruction caused by the flooding.
Parts of the statement read, “I am here on behalf of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to see things for ourselves and to see how actually the Government can come in to ameliorate the suffering of the people as a result of this Natural disaster.
We identify with you for this lost and by the Grace of God, Government will come in providing relief materials for the victims to ease their suffering,” Alabi spoke on behalf of Governor AbdulRazaq.
The Etsu Patigi and members of the Traditional Council appreciated Mr. Alabi’s visit and enjoined him to come to the aid of the people of Pategi, whose hopes have been shattered as a result of loss of their farms – which are their means of livelihood.
Mr. Alabi, however, proceeded to Gbaradogi – a riverine community, where he sympathised with the village head, Alhaji Mohammed Tswako, assuring the villagers of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s swift intervention to cushion the negative effects caused by the flood disaster.
In his remarks, the NdaTsadu of Gbaradogi pleaded with the Kwara State Government to help relocate them to an upland area as permanent solution to the menace of serial flooding.
