Kwara Assembly member, Gideon, resigns from APC, joins PDP

Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Edu State Constituency, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gideon announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Tsaragi Ward 3 in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In the letter, the lawmaker said his resignation takes immediate effect, adding that the decision followed “careful reflection and consultations” with his constituents and key stakeholders.

He cited recent developments within the APC, particularly concerns over internal democracy, fairness and inclusiveness, as reasons for leaving the party.

“This decision follows careful reflection and consultations with my constituents and key stakeholders. Recent developments within the Party, particularly concerning internal democracy, fairness, and inclusiveness, have led me to take this decision,” he stated.

Gideon, however, reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Edu State Constituency, Kwara State and Nigeria with integrity, dedication and accountability.

He also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and the support he received during his membership of the APC.

The resignation is coming amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kwara State.

Although the resignation letter itself formally announces his exit from the APC, the development is understood to pave the way for his alignment with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
