Kwara 2027: Ilorin South Progressive Caucus adopts Bolarinwa, backs Tinubu’s second term

The Ilorin South Progressive Caucus has declared its support for the governorship ambition of former Kwara APC Chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Excellence Hall in Ilorin, where members of the caucus drawn from the 11 wards in Ilorin South Local Government unanimously adopted Bolarinwa as their preferred consensus candidate for the Kwara governorship race.

Speaking at the gathering, the stakeholders described Bolarinwa as a seasoned politician with the experience and credibility required to lead the state, citing his track record as a former councillor, local government chairman and federal lawmaker.

The caucus noted that his leadership role during the 2019 political realignment, popularly known as the OTOGE movement, demonstrated his capacity to unite diverse interests within the party and deliver electoral success.

They expressed confidence that Bolarinwa’s candidacy would strengthen the chances of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 governorship election, assuring the party’s national leadership of their commitment to mobilising grassroots support.

The group also used the occasion to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, pledging continued loyalty to his administration.

Dignitaries present at the meeting included former APC State Legal Adviser, Barrister Ladi Mustapha; former APC Senatorial Youth Leader (Kwara Central), Issa Abubakar Alfulani; former State Assistant Publicity Secretary, Lekan Akanbi; and other party leaders in Ilorin South.
