2027: Salako gains massive grassroots backing during Offa APC visit

A governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Dr Muideen Olaniyi Azeez Salako, has stepped up efforts to strengthen his political base ahead of the 2027 election, following a high-level visit to the All Progressives Congress secretariat in Offa.

Dr Salako, who is also the Global President of the Offa Descendants Union, was received by party faithful, ward executives, local government officials and other stakeholders, in what observers described as a clear display of unity and growing support within the party.

The meeting, held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the party’s secretariat in Osunte, is part of his ongoing grassroots consultations as he seeks to rally backing ahead of the APC governorship primaries.

Addressing party members, Salako underscored the political importance of Offa in the state, calling on stakeholders to ensure the emergence of credible aspirants from the town.

He said his ambition was driven by calls from supporters who consider him capable of leading the state, adding that his focus would include youth empowerment, support for women and sustainable development.

Salako noted that his consultations had begun at the ward level and described the Offa visit as a formal engagement with party leadership, ahead of a planned move to the state capital for his official declaration.

In a gesture seen as reinforcing his commitment to the party, the aspirant donated one million naira to members present and pledged to equip the new APC secretariat in Offa.

He also urged unity among party stakeholders, stressing that early mobilisation and collective support for Offa-based aspirants would be key to success at the primaries.

Speaking at the event, the Offa APC Chairman, Prince Kunle Adegboye, praised Salako’s role in strengthening the party’s structure, particularly his contribution to the recent membership drive.

According to Adegboye, party registration in Offa rose from 14,000 to 48,000, moving the town from 12th to 4th position in the state’s membership ranking.

He called on party members and indigenes of Offa across the state to support Salako’s aspiration.
The meeting drew several notable figures, including Hon Alakija Majeed, Special Adviser on Land to the Offa Local Government Chairman; Engr Kunle Ahmed; Prince Popoola Musibaudeen; members of the Offa APC executive council; ward chairmen; and a large turnout of party supporters, reflecting increasing momentum behind Salako’s bid.
