The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Wednesday April 19, 2023 issued a certificate of return to the Governor-elect of Kebbi State, Dr Nasiru Idris following his victory at the governorship poll.
Idris said he would conclude all projects which the outgoing Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu could not complete.
He said he would give the state capital, Birnin Kebbi a new face.
He made these promises while receiving his certificate of return at the electoral commission’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi alongside his deputy, Abubakar Tafida.
He promised to redefine the state’s economy and bring the farmers who were suffering intimidation in the southern area of the state back to their farms.
He said residents of the state deserve to enjoy living meaningful life.
He described residents of the state as hardworking people who are passionate about the development of the state.
“Today is a great day for me because Kebbi is making history. I want to thank people of the state for believing in me and our party, APC, I promise that the mandate given to me would not be in vain and I will fulfill all promise made,” he said.
The Governor elect commended the electoral commission and the security agents for the successful conduct of the election in the state.
INEC declares PDP’s Fintiri as winner of Adamawa guber poll
The incumbent Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri of the People’s Democratic Party PDP has been declared the winner of the state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He defeated thirteen other guber candidates in the state to retain his position as Governor of the state.
The Informant247 recalls that the REC, on Sunday April 16, 2023 declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani the winner of the election even while collation of results was still ongoing.
The headquarters of the electoral commission has taken a quick step on the critical electoral issue as it suspended the REC and postponed the announcement of the results indefinitely.
The INEC on Tuesday April 18, 2023 held a meeting to discuss issues concerning the Adamawa governorship election.
It called on the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman to immediately investigate and possibly prosecute the Resident Electoral Commissioner REC for Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari.
The INEC after its Tuesday’s meeting also alerted the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha to bring the unacceptable act of the REC to the awareness of concerned appointing authority for due action.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba also removed the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde.
