The former Governor of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has said he is not a member of any political party for now as he’s only interested in supporting candidates across political parties in the 2023 general elections.
The former Speaker made this revelation while granting a television interview on Wednesday March 15.
He also dismissed the rumour that he’s an ”unstable character”.
The Informant247 understands that Dogara represents Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of national assembly.
He was a popular chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC before the presidential primary of the party.
He was not comfortable with Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party, openly opposed it and publicly declared his support for the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar against the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu.
Dogara has stood against the re-election of the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed of the PDP and declared his support for Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, the APC governorship candidate in the March 18 election in the state.
The APC governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar is the country’s former Chief of Air Staff.
When asked whether he’s a member of the APC or PDP, Dogara. replied that he is not politically instable.
He said, “I am supporting candidates; I am not doing any political party for now, I am supporting candidates.
“Everybody knows that I backed Atiku Abubakar for Presidency for reasons I told the whole world but in Bauchi State, before primaries were concluded, I had supported the aspiration Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar who is the current APC governorship candidate and I have my candidates for House of Assembly in my constituency.
“I have Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates that I helped midwife them into those positions, and I can’t abandon them for political stability.”
