The Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages (LASPG), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly addressed as MC Oluomo has dismissed the claim that he threatened Igbos residing in Lagos State.
MC Oluomo in a video which has gone viral on social media, said he was only joking with her neighbor, Uche otherwise known as Iya Chukwudi at a parley on Thursday March 16, 2023.
The transport boss implored his members and supporters to cast their votes for the incumbent Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
MC Oluomo in a video said: ” We have begged them. If they don’t want to vote for us, it doesn’t call for a fight. Iya Chukwudi, if you don’t want to vote for us, stay at home.”
He said Iya Chukwudi is like a sister and welcoming neighbor to him.
He added that he has been living peacefully with the Igbos residing and trading in Oshodi.
“At no point did I threatened anyone. We’ve enjoyed a long harmonious relationship. Not at this point will I do that. I buy things regularly from Iya Chukwudi and was only joking with her.
“Mischief makers took our friendly conversation out of context just to label me as a bad person. Lagos State has been peaceful and we don’t pray for violence in our state,” he said.
Nwagbaraodia, who showed up in the same video, confirmed that Akinsanya did not threaten her.
She said the transport boss always purchase noodles and other goods from her.
She said she was surprised how their friendly conversation was misunderstood by members of the public.
“I thank God I’m now a celebrity. Little thing we joked with has now made me popular. It was my daughter that called my attention to it on social media.
“I and MC Oluomo have been friends for ages. My people, there’s no iota of truth in what people are sharing on social media. MC Oluomo is my good neighbour,” she said.
The Informant247 earlier reported that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, on Friday, March 17 said the police have commenced investigation into the alleged threat issued by the Lagos State Parks Management Committee Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo.
The CP made this revelation while granting a television interview ahead of the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday March 18, 2023.
The Informant247 recalls that MC Oluomo, in a viral video, threatened the people of Igbo extraction residing in Lagos not to come to polling units if they will not cast their votes for the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
MC Oluomo said, “Please tell them, we have begged them. If they don’t vote for us, it is not a fight. Tell them that Chukwudi’s mother, if you don’t vote for us, sit down at home. Do you understand? Sit down at home.”
While speaking about the threat, the Lagos CP said, “We condemn in the strongest possible terms any act, statement, or an action that could be interpreted as hate speech or that could be interpreted as deepening political tension regardless of the brain that might be behind it. With regards to this specific video you mentioned, it is currently a subject of a detailed investigation.”
“Of course, we are deploying our cyber security access to solve that. And, I can assure you that nobody is above the law. This country is regulated. Anybody that tries to use his position, or his influence on others to deepen hate, or engender political tension which could, of course, snowball into violence, it remains the responsibility and the mandate of the Nigeria Police to investigate such cases.
“This specific one you mentioned will not be in isolation. It is already a subject of review. And it will be in the interest of the actors behind it and all others that might wish to also engage in such ill-informed, indirect action to be very careful, to be firmly warned because in the fullness of time, the full law will take its course and it will be not different in this instance if established,” Owohunwa added.
