I can’t disclose our allowances – Kwara lawmaker
The Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy, Kwara State Assembly, Hon. Ayinla AbdulGafar, has said he cannot disclose how much they earn as salary and allowance.
Ayinla said this during a student parliamentary summit at the University of Ilorin organised by the Institution’s Students Union.
He refused to disclose how much the lawmakers earned in allowances stating that he don’t know the exact amount they are paid.
When asked to say how much he earned, Ayinla said, “I actually can’t tell you because I don’t know exactly how much I am getting”.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in May, arrested Abdulgafar Ayinla, then a member-elect of the Kwara State House of Assembly, for involvement in property scam, forgery and obtaining money under pretense to the tune of about N26,000,000.
He, according to sources, claimed to have diverted the money for his personal use, promising to pay back the money when he receives his wardrobe allowance.
KWARA ASSEMBLY SECRETLY INCREASE ALLOWANCE OF HONOURABLES

Reacting to this when contacted by THE INFORMANT247, the Special Assistant on media to the speaker, Ibrahim Sheriff denied knowledge saying there was nothing of such.
