The Yobe State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of one Yahaya Sai’du, 20 who allegedly contracted gunmen to take the life of his father, Sai’du Oroh.
The spokesperson of the police command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, informed the newsmen in Damaturu, the capital of the state, that the suspect was apprehended in Gujba, on Monday.
The spokespersonalso said that the suspect allegedly engaged the service of three assailants who gunned down Oroh at his house in Pompom village, on Aug. 20.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect paid the gunmen N350,000 to kill his father, a herdsman, just to rustle his cattle.
“Three empty bullet shells of double barrel gun were recovered at the scene and the police began the trail of the suspects immediately after the incident.
“Detectives, acting on intelligence, arrested Sa’idu in Gujba town on Oct. 17, while attempting to sell 30 cows he stole from his late father,” Abdulkarim said.
The mouthpiece of the police command also added that the police were also working to get the remaining three suspects, affirming that they would be apprehended soon.
He declared that Sa’idu would be prosecuted at the completion of investigation.
