Some suspected hoodlums on Friday night attacked ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission camped at Tudunwada Primary School in Gombe metropolis.
The Informant247 gathered that no fewer than three phones, back packs, power banks were lost to the attackers, adding that three persons have been rushed to the hospital having sustained machete cuts, while others are nursing varying injuries.
An eyewitness, who confirmed the attack, said that the hoodlums made away with phones of some of his colleagues who were trained to conduct the presidential and National Assembly Elections, adding that many of them were injured following the attack while trying to flee for safety.
“The police and the school guard were no where to be found. They went with phones belonging to my colleagues. I sustained injuries while trying to escape,” he added.
The source, while decrying the late response of security operatives, said “An attack that took place at about 11pm, not until they (hoodlums) left that police came to ensure order.”
Mahid Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer of Gombe State Command, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying he just received distress call about the same place.
“I was just called now and I’m going there now. Maybe afterwards the bigmen (Authorities), will state what happened.”
