Fire razes residential building in Ilorin

A midnight fire outbreak on Friday engulfed a building of six rooms flat on Adejoro Street, Ita-alamu Area, Tanke, Ilorin.

The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the inferno, which completely destroyed the flat, was put out by the efforts of the fire service, thereby preventing it from spreading to other buildings.

He said, “It occurred around 23:14hrs of today and throughout the incident nobody was able to reach out to Fire Brigades until the whole building had totally burnt.

“In fact on getting to incident, the situation met on ground was so saddened and very pathetic indeed. But we only tried our best by curtailing the spread of the fire from spreading to the adjacent surrounding buildings and later cooled down the remaining ranging inferno.”

He quoted the Director of Kwara State Fire Service CFO Yakub I. Waheed as pleading to “the general public to stop the act of nonchalant attitude especially towards their neighbor’s property as this might be causing many losses in the society”.
