Fire destroys rows of shops in Ibadan, Oyo

Fire has consumed five rows of shops at Agbeni market in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The fire incident broke out on Sunday May 14 around 4:30 in the morning.

Confirming the incident, the general manager of the state fire service, Yemi Akinyemi said they received a distress call from a security man who was close to the affected scene.

He disclosed that the fire took no one’s life, thanking the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) fire service for assisting with its fire service apparatus — and which made it easy for them to overpower the fire incident.

The Informant247 recalls that Araromi auto parts market situated in the state was razed by fire in January. Report has it that electrical surge triggered the inferno which destroyed goods worth millions of naira.

In a similar development, fire destroyed the plank section of the Bodija market; also situated in the state in April. Electrical issue also reportedly triggered the fire outbreak.
