Fire guts building in Ilorin

Four ‘container shops’ were gutted by fire in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred on Thursday, was attributed ‘careless attitude that was put-up by one of the owners of the shops’.

The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the incident happened at Shop 3 Ebun-Oluwa Shopping Complex, along Tanke Pipeline Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.

He said the inferno was put out by the efforts of the fire service, thereby preventing it from spreading to other buildings.

“The outbreak occurred in the early hours of today about 1:08hrs, when the State Fire Service was summoned to the place of incident at beside Shop 3 Ebun-Oluwa Shopping Complex, along Tanke Pipeline Road, Ilorin, Kwara State, by one Mr. Tolu.

“The Brigade arrive the scene just four minutes after the call out time. But it was so unfortunate that the blazing fire had already destroyed the whole structure due to their late calling,” he added.

He quoted the Director of Kwara State Fire Service CFO Yakub I. Waheed as advising “the general public to be more careful about their day to day activities and always remember to stay safe”.
