FCMB loses N1.9m valuables to fire: Kwara Fire Service

…says billions of naira saved

 

The Kwara State Fire Service says property and valuables estimated at N1.9million naira were lost to the fire incident at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) along Murtala Mohammed way in Ilorin on Wednesday, while valuables worth billions of naira were saved.

The spokesperson of the state fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle said this in a statement issued to give a brief of the incident.

Adekunle said the outbreak which occurred around 3:15 pm partially affected the bank’s structure before the firemen were able to extinguish it.

He said, “On getting to the scene of occurrence, the inferno was still raging and solar panels, Roof, affected in a story Building.

“However, we were able to display our professionalism and in no time the ravaging inferno was overcome, property worth (Building, Content, Generator) Billions of Naira were saved from the inferno.”

He quoted the fire boss, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa (CFO) as urging “the general public to be more safety-conscious at all time and avoid leaving electrical gadgets unattended to.”
