The Kwara Government has advised residents to obtain permission before mounting signboards or erecting billboards anywhere in the state.
The Director-General of the state Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA), Mr Olorunshola Omotayo, gave the advice on Wednesday during a consultation visit by the media team of Kawu Baraje turbaning ceremony as Tafida of Ilorin.
Omotayo commended the team, headed by a former chairman of the Kwara Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Tunde Akanbi.
The KWASAA boss however assured that the agency would not relent in its efforts at educating the public on the need to see it as a point of call for signage and outdoor matters across the state.
He described members of the team as people of ‘timber and calibre’ who deserved more commendation for deeming it fit to visit the agency for enquiries.
Omotayo urged members of the public to follow suit toward ensuring orderliness in the signage and other related matters.
Akanbi had earlier informed the director-general that he was moved by a write-up he read, where the KWASAA boss appealed to the public to always come to the agency for proper education before mounting signboards and billboards in the state.
Akanbi applauded the agency for a job well done and urged the staff to ensure that KWASAA works toward the growth and development of the state in particular and the country at large. (NAN)
