Isyaku Sharu, the Ilorin Zonal Head of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that looters of Kwara state fund would be charged to court from next week.
The anti-graft commission boss during the 26th edition of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Parliament tagged; “Anti Corruption” held yesterday, revealed that substantial amount of money has been recovered from the last administration.
Sharu, in his welcome note, reassured Kwarans that the Commission will continue to strive to ensure the state is corruption free,
“Kwara office was opened after the Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu felt need for a Zonal office to clean up lingering corruption practice in the state” he added.
The EFCC boss furthered that the commission discorvered that Civil servant in most cases helped politicians siphon funds in the state, that the workers teach politicians how to loot.
He also urged Residents of the state to partner with the Commission by providing useful information to curb the perpetration of corrupt practices.
He however cleared that the anti-Corruption crusade has not only been focusing on the politicians but also sanitising cybercrime, vote-buying, civil servants abetting corrupt practices among others.
“I’m happy to inform you that the country now ranks 144th out of 180… Before now, Nigeria used to be second to last after Bangladesh” he concluded.
