Court Strikes out Ex-Ilorin NBA Secretary Case against EFCC

The Kwara State High court has on Friday, 1st November, 2019 lain to rest the allegation of brutality against ex-scribe of Ilorin Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association, Sulyman Abaya.

Recall that the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic Financial Crime Commission arrested, detained and even coerced Abaya to bearing placard bearing “criminal conspiracy, fraud” among other offences.

Again this backdrop, Abaya sued the commission seeking One Billion Naira damages and public apology to be published in no fewer than two national dailies.

The court, in its ruling dismissed the case in its entirety, saying the EFCC has the constitutional power to arrest, upload pictures of suspects on social media and other media platforms.

The lead counsel to the applicant, Ismail AbdulRahim however expressed mixed reaction and even vowed to challenge the verdict in a higher court of competent jurisdiction.
