The suspended Local Government Chairmen had addressed a letter of apology to the Speaker of the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly over their disobedience of court order compelling to appear before the House Committee on ethics and Local Government Matters on the 4th October, 2019.
The three-paragraph letter which was jointly signed by four out of the sixteen suspended Local Council Chiefs stated the intent of the embattled administrators to throw their weight behind the Administration of Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman.
Recall that the sixteen suspended LG Bosses were on Friday, 1st October, 2019 grilled by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crime Commissione (EFCC) over allegation of financial misappropriation.
The letter read: “Based on the judgement of the Kwara State High Court in the 4th of October, 2019 that ruled that the assembly acted in its jurisdiction and power by inviting us to face the house committee on ethics and local Government matters. We to state that we acted not to slight the honorable house but to establish the position of the law on such issue.
However sir, based on the outcome of the judgement, we wish to tender our unreserved apologies to the leadership of the house and most importantly the entire members of the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly for our none appearance.
We wish to state that we have taken our judgement in good faith and equally received to stay action on any further legal process or appeal. We have resolved to join hands with the 9th Assembly and most importantly Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s Government to move Kwara state.”
