Court sentences teenager to 4 months imprisonment for stealing coolers in Ogun

One 18-year old man, Peter Ogunbiyi, has been sentenced to to four months imprisonment over theft of window burglary proof metals, coolers and aluminium glass worth N200,000.

The man was sentenced by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Thursday.

The convict, whose address of residence was not revealed has pleaded guilty to theft and burglary.

Magistrate A. O. Adeyemi while ruling, sentenced the convict without any option of fine.

Insp E.O. Adaraloye, who was the the Prosecution Counsel, earlier informed the court that Ogunbiyi carried out the offence on October 14 at about 4.00 a.m. at Oloko, Obasanjo area, Ota.

The Prosecution Counsel revealed that Ogunbiyi invaded the house of Sarah Olayemi and illegally took away an aluminium window glass, a window burglary-proof metal and  coolers worth N200,000.

The prosecution counsel also said that the offences were incontravention of the provisions of sections 390 (9) and 411(2) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
