An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has directed the remand of Baderinwa Waheed, 33, who was alleged of stealing an N-Power beneficiary’s five months stipend.
The defendant, whose identity was not revealed, was charged with forgery, stealing and fraud.
To the prosecutor, Mr Olaolu Olayinka, the defendant stole the said stipend sometime in March 2021 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Olayinka however alleged that the defendant had carried out the fraud alongside one Tiamiyu Salimot, by logging into one Adeola Olofin’s N-POWER dashboard to steal her money.
He made an allegation that the defendant and Salimot tampered with Olofin’s password, name and account number, thereby taking away her five months’ N-POWER stipend calculated at N150,000.
Olayinka said that the offences were against the provision of Section 14(1), (2) and (3) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition Prevention) Act, 2015.
The plea of the defendant was ignored by the court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, however directed his remand till advice from the state director of public prosecutions.
He adjourned the case until June 20 for mention.
