An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Monday ordered Emmanuel Benson, 47, to sweep the court premises for one week for abusing a woman.
In her verdict, Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi condemned him to prison without the possibility of a fine.
According to Adeyemi, the prosecution’s case was proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The convict was accused with assault and lives at No.22 Basiru Adamu St., Plaza Road, Ota.
He had denied the charge and pleaded not guilty.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the crime on October 30, 2021, at around 7.30 p.m. at his apartment.
Ms Naomi Zion was allegedly beaten up and dragged on the floor by the inmate, resulting in injuries to her left hand, according to Adaraloye.
According to the prosecution, the offence contravened the provisions of Section 355 of the Criminal Code,Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006
