Chief Magistrate Muhammed Ibrahim has granted the bail applications of three critics of the Kwara State Government, Olusola Olusegun, Kayode Ogunlowo and Babatunde Saka.
The trio were accused of reporting injurious news against the governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and her sister, Senator Khairat Gwadabe.
They were granted bail in the sum of two hundred thousand naira each and two sureties in the like sum in which one of the sureties must be resident of the court jurisdiction while the matter was adjourned to 27th of the month.
It would be recalled that the court could not seat on the critics’ application moved by their counsels following the unavailability of the Magistrate.
The police stated that the critics published a report that the chairperson of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Shade Omoniyi gave the governor’s sister, Senator Khairat Gwadabe, the sum of one hundred and fifty million naira as Sallah gift.
It further added that the money given to the Governor’s family is enough to pay five hundred workers for the unsubstantiated salary arrears of Local Government and SUBEB staff.
Counsel to one of the critics, Barrister Balogun Mujaid informed our reporter that it’s up to the state government to come forward and prove their case against his client.
