A housewife, Maryam Dahiru was on Monday directed by a Sharia Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna directed to return the suitcases of clothes and N100,000 dowry she got from her former husband, Salihu Yakubu.
While presiding over the judgement, the judge, Malam Rilwanu Kyaudai, confirmed the divorce between the wife and the husband through Khul’i (divorce by mutual Agreement).
“She will only return the clothes she hasn’t used. The complainant has the permission of court to move her belongings from her former husband’s house”, the judge ruled.
The counsel of Dahiru, Murtala Gyallesu had on Oct. 12, initiated a suit against her husband persuading the court to terminate their one month old union through Khul’i.
She declared that she has lost interest in the marriage and was set to refund the dowry she got so that the divorce could stay.
Yakubu speaking through his counsel, M.M Dahiru, confessed that he loved his wife and does not have any intention of divorcing.
Yakubu persuaded the court to direct his ex wife to refund the marriage suitcases that were filled with clothes which he gifted her.
