‘Congratulations my Oga’, Fubara hails Wike at 56 amid Rivers political crisis

The Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sent his congratulatory message to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, on his 56th birthday.

Fubara, via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, shared a flier featuring Wike in traditional attire.

The flier reads, “I congratulate my Oga, His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, Life Bencher, immediate Past Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, on his 56th birthday today, December 13, 2023.

“Your Excellency, my dear wife and I, and the good people of Rivers State, join your family and friends to felicitate you on this day. We sincerely pray that your new age brings you joy and good health.”

This is amid a veiled feud between Fubara and Wike, which has plunged Rivers State into political turmoil.

The crisis escalated with the impeachment attempt against Fubara, prompting loyalists to protest.

The Informant247 had earlier reported how Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in a dramatic twist of events, presented the 2024 Budget to a five-person state Assembly.

The Informant247 gathered that the Speaker of the Assembly, Edison Ehie, also declared the seats of the 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) vacant.

It would be recalled that the five-man assembly was presided over by Edison Ehie, who was on Tuesday backed by a ruling of the Rivers State High Court as the authentic Speaker of the state Assembly.

Tagged as the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation and Continuity’, the Rivers State Executive Council had earlier approved the budget estimates.

During the Wednesday proceedings, Edison also declared vacant the seat of 27 of 32 lawmakers who defected to APC.
