Following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, congratulated the duo of its governorship candidates in Imo and Kogi states, Hope Uzodimma and Usman Ododo, on their victory at last Saturday’s election.
Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, revealed this in a statement signed on Monday, November 13.
The statement read, “The All Progressives Congress congratulates His Excellency, Hope Uzodimma, on his re-election as Executive Governor of Imo State, and Usman Ododo on his emergence as Governor of Kogi State.
“The landslide victories of both Governor Uzodinma and Ododo at the just-concluded gubernatorial polls attest to the exceptional performance of the APC-led administrations in both states and resonated loudly with voters.
“We are confident that Governor Uzodimma will consolidate and extend the impressive accomplishments of his first term in Imo State, while Usman Ododo, on his part, will build on the solid record of the outgoing APC administration in Kogi State.
“We commend the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for professionally discharging their constitutional duties during the election in both states.
“We salute the Imo and Kogi electorate for their invaluable and massive support of our great party.”
The Informant247 had earlier reported that Prof. Johnson Urama, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nnsuka had on Sunday night, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Usman Ododo as winner of Saturday’s Governorship election in Kogi State.
Prof. Urama, while announcing at the INEC state collation centre in Lokoja, the state capital, said Ododo polled 446,237 to defeat his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who polled 259,052 votes.
Meanwhile, Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third after scoring 46,362 votes and Hon. Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Party (ADP) got 21,819 votes to come fourth.
He said, “Ahmed Ododo having certified the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.
He also said the number of cancelled votes in the areas where the election did not hold was 16, 247 and could not substantially affect the outcome of the result.
Meanwhile, Hope Uzodinma, the Imo State Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was on Sunday declared winner of the Saturday governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Informant247 gathered Uzodinma polled 540,308 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Sam Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 71,503 to come second and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) who scored 64,081 votes to come third.
Professor Abayomi Fashina, the Returning Officer for the Imo State Governorship Election and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, while announcing the result, said Uzodinma scored the highest number of valid votes cast and was returned elected for a second term in office.
Uzodimma won in all the 27 local government areas of the state where the November 11, 2023 governorship poll.
