Community Resilience Pledge: AA Youth Wing rallies grassroots support for Tinubu, Danladi Salihu, other APC candidates

The AA Youth Wing has intensified grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections with a Community Resilience Pledge held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin, where stakeholders declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and formally endorsed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate.

The event was held under the theme, “Building Resilient Communities Through Sustainable Development,” and attracted delegates from the 16 Local Government Areas and 193 wards of Kwara State. It brought together senior government officials, traditional rulers, women leaders, artisan groups, community stakeholders, and youth representatives.

In his keynote address, the Convener of the AA Youth Wing, Ambassador Akanbi Ilyas Shola, described the gathering as a platform to reinforce peace, unity, and sustainable development across Kwara State beyond political, ethnic, and religious differences.

“This programme is more than a political gathering; it represents a collective commitment by stakeholders to protect the peace and development of Kwara State,” he said.

He urged young people to remain disciplined, safeguard the peace enjoyed across communities, and actively participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Ambassador Akanbi also commended Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as remarkable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic innovation. He noted that these milestones were showcased through a documentary presentation during the event and praised the governor for supporting the emergence of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu as the party’s governorship flagbearer, expressing confidence in his ability to consolidate on the administration’s achievements.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Kwara Central Elders Caucus, Alhaji Abdulrasak Lawal, emphasized that peace and security remain fundamental to sustainable development and economic prosperity.

He applauded the collaboration between the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government on security initiatives, citing the enrollment of community security personnel into the Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme, the establishment of an Army Division headquarters in Ilorin to strengthen regional security, and the deliberate inclusion of young leaders in governance and political leadership, exemplified by the endorsement of Speaker Danladi Salihu.

“A peaceful environment attracts investment, promotes economic growth, and enables governments to channel more resources toward developmental projects. Youths across the state must justify the confidence reposed in them through active political participation and constructive support,” Lawal stated.

A major highlight of the programme was an interactive panel session featuring representatives from all 16 local government areas, who reviewed the AbdulRazaq administration’s performance across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth development, and economic growth.

Panelists included Turawa Kamaldeen Olaitan, Bashir Luqman Olarewaju, Surajudeen Salwaa Oneyi, Setemi Samuel Sanyaolu, Okeleye Saheed Adeshina, and Suleiman Abduljalil Bala-Daba, alongside other representatives.

Speaking at the event, the Member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, called on party members and supporters across the state to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilization in support of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The event concluded with delegates unanimously adopting the Community Resilience Pledge as a framework for promoting peace, civic responsibility, non-violence, and grassroots engagement, while reaffirming their commitment to securing victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
