Breaking: Saraki announces Kale Kawu as PDP consensus guber candidate

Former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has announced Engr. Kale Kawu as the consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Kwara State.

Saraki made the announcement on his official X handle on Saturday after what he described as “extensive consultations” with stakeholders of the Kwara PDP and leading governorship aspirants within the party.

In the statement, Saraki said the party leadership and aspirants agreed on Kawu as the flagbearer in the interest of unity and electoral success.

“I am pleased to announce that, after extensive consultations with stakeholders of the Kwara PDP and our leading gubernatorial aspirants, we have arrived at a consensus candidate to fly the flag of our great party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. That candidate is Engr. Kale Kawu,” he stated.

The former Senate President also commended other aspirants who stepped down for the consensus arrangement, describing their action as a demonstration of unity and sacrifice for the party’s collective ambition.

He said their decision reflected the spirit needed for the PDP to reclaim power in the state.

Saraki further wished party members, delegates and supporters a peaceful and successful outing ahead of the governorship primaries scheduled for Saturday.
