APC primary fallout: Yahaya Seriki distances supporters from reported protest, urges calm

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, has distanced himself and his political structure from a reported protest allegedly staged by aggrieved youths over recent developments within the party.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Hon. Bolakale Oloje on behalf of Team Amba, Yahaya Seriki said although he appreciates the loyalty and support he continues to enjoy from party faithful across the state, the situation requires restraint, patience and faith in the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms.

The statement followed reports by some online media platforms, claiming that some youths had taken to protest over political developments within the APC in the state.

Yahaya Seriki stressed that neither he nor his supporters should be linked with any action capable of creating tension or disunity within the ruling party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki respectfully distances himself, his political family, and support structure from the reported protest activities and any form of action capable of generating unnecessary tension, disunity, or negative public perception about the APC,” the statement said.

The APC stalwart described himself as a loyal and committed party member who believes strongly in the unity and cohesion of the party, adding that the leadership of the APC at both the state and national levels possesses the capacity to manage internal issues in the collective interest of members.

He also appealed to his supporters, particularly youths, to remain peaceful, law-abiding and focused on protecting the image of the party.

According to him, the current situation should not be allowed to degenerate into hostility or actions capable of overheating the political atmosphere in the state.

“This is not a moment for division or hostility, but a time for political maturity, patience, consultation and responsible leadership,” the statement added.

Yahaya Seriki further maintained that the APC remains one united family and urged members to pursue grievances through constructive engagement and respect for party supremacy.
