Gunmen have killed a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Toyin Adeniji.
The 47-year-old politician was reportedly gunned down in front of his house in the Agege area of the state.
The gunmen reportedly invaded the deceased’s residence and shot him at close range.
Gbenga Ogunleye, the media aide to the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Olajide Adediran, confirmed the incident and described the scenario as an “unfortunate”.
“It is quite unfortunate that the spate of insecurity and avoidable deaths are rising in Lagos state. It’s very sad,” he said.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
