The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced Bishop Feyiropo Daniels of I Reign Christian Ministry, Lagos, to life imprisonment for raping his 23-year-old assistant pastor.
Additionally, the court handed down a three-year sentence for the sexual assault of a 19-year-old church member.
The Informant247 News gathered that Justice Rahman Oshodi, presiding over the case, declared that Daniels would spend the remainder of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility.
Oshodi, emphasizing the prosecution’s successful establishment of the charges, characterized Daniels as a liar lacking regard for the truth.
While the court acquitted Daniels on the charge of raping another church member and attempted rape of a different member, Justice Oshodi noted an element of consent in the former case.
The amended four-count charge against Daniels included offenses under Section 260 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, pertaining to rape and sexual assault.
During the trial, the assistant pastor recounted the harrowing incident, revealing that Daniels assaulted her during a prayer session at his Lekki residence on September 8, 2019.
She explained seeking accommodation due to a delayed program and how she ended up at the bishop’s house with fellow church members.
