The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday, swore in nine commissioners who are loyalists of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The Informant247 reports that the newly sworn-in commissioners had earlier resigned their appointments at the height of the crisis between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike and Fubara, whereas President Bola Tinubu had intervened, which resulted in an eight-point resolution, including re-absorbing Wike’s men who dumped Fubara’s cabinet.
Swearing in the Commissioners at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara said the newly sworn-in commissioners needed to engage in activities for which posterity will positively remember them.
Observing that they had already read the charge in their oath of office, Fubara enjoined them to uphold and defend the state’s constitution.
“I wish you well in your coming back. Stand for justice and stand for the interests of our dear state. That is the purpose of your appointment, and that is the truth.”
“I can see how heavy your hearts are. But I assure you that I don’t have anything against anyone of you. You were caught in between during the crossfire.
“I will advise that you give your best. Like I said the first time, let this State and posterity remember you for what is good.”
The Informant247 had earlier reported that as part of the implementation of the eight-point resolution reached at a peace meeting brokered between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers and his predecessor and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike to resolve the political crisis rocking State, the House of Assembly on Wednesday, January 17, in its screening for the Commissioner nominees sent by Governor Fubara asked the nine nominees to take a ‘bow and go’.
The Informant247 gathered that the nine nominees are loyalists of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
The State House of Assembly, in a letter of invitation signed by the Clerk, Dr Emeka Amadi, directed key Wike loyalists who had earlier rendered their resignation to appear before it for screening.
Those invited to the screening were Zacchaeus Adangor, Dr. Jacobson Mbina, Dr Gift Worlu, Mrs Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, Hon. Isaac Kamalu and Engr. Austin Ben Chioma.
The Speaker of the House, Martins Amaehwule, however, during plenary at the hallowed chamber in the Legislative Quarters, Off PH/Aba Expressway, Port Harcourt, read the letter from Governor Siminalayi Fubara, requesting their screening and confirmation.
The Majority Leader, Hon Major Jack, moved a motion that because the nominees had been screened before, there was no need to repeat the process, and as such, they should take a bow and go.
The motion was supported by the deputy speaker, Rt Hon Dumle Maol; hence, they were asked to ‘bow and go.’
