The Lagos State Police Command said it has apprehended a 39-year-old robbery suspect.
The police also said it has recovered a gun from the suspect in the Lekki Free Trade Zone of the state.
The spokesperson of the police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via a statement on Friday in Lagos, confirmed that the suspect (names withheld) was apprehended on Sept.15 at about 06:30 p.m. after a tip-off.
“The police received information that some hoodlums vandalise cables and steal iron rods at the construction site of Dangote Refinery, using a canoe to convey the cables to Epe and its environs.
“Officers from the command mobilised to Emun Village, behind Lekki Free Trade Zone, and on sighting the police, the hoodlums fled in different directions,” he said.
The mouthpiece of the police in the state said the police officers apprehended the suspect, who lives in the Nuforija area of Epe.
He revealed that a locally-made single barrel gun, one live cartridge, a mercury flying boat engine, and the sum of N48,500 were recovered from the suspected robber.
He said a preliminary investigation is going and aimed at apprehending the other fleeing suspects.
He said that the suspected robber would soon be moved to the state command headquarters.
