To bridge the divide among its members aligned with Senator George Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has taken a decisive step.
The SWC nullified all suspension orders issued at various levels within the state, aiming to restore unity within the party.
This decision was communicated through a communique released after the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Makurdi.
Concerned about unauthorized suspensions causing disarray, the SEC directed an immediate end to such actions and emphasized adherence to the party’s constitution, rules, and procedures governing suspension processes.
The committee shared, “Even when the suspension is carried out using the right procedures, it must be ratified by the SWC of the party before it can be announced and effected accordingly.”
The party urged aggrieved members to follow proper channels outlined in the party’s constitution to address their concerns.
Additionally, the party cautioned against unauthorized suspension letters, warning of sanctions for those failing to comply.
Local Government Party Chairmen and Stakeholders were instructed to seek permission from the SWC before organizing any party activity or meeting to prevent crises.
All previously issued suspensions were declared null and void, with a plea for party leaders and members to allow internal crisis management mechanisms to address issues without unnecessarily heating up the political atmosphere.
