Awoniyi scores against Liverpool as Nottingham Forest ends 10-game winless streak

Taiwo Awoniyi’s lone goal was the difference as Nottingham Forest secured a 1-0 win against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Nigeria international who left Liverpool in 2021 without making a competitive appearance made a return back to the EPL at beginning of the season as he joined the newly promoted side from FC Union Berlin.

An interesting show where the host will have their goalkeeper, Henderson to thank for rising so high and low to keep the Reds out of the game-making a total seven saves.

Awoniyi, who has now scored in all his start at home for his side now has three goals to his credit. His efforts today might just further place him strategically in the plans of Manager Steve Cooper who recently had a contract renewal.

The win against Liverpool, who were so low compared to what they played against Manchester City is Forest’s second after 12 round of games. They have now moved an inch from the bottom of the log, leaving Liecester to the top from behind.

Hopefully, the win against Liverpool will help boost their morale as they now seek total redemption in the return to the league after 23 years.
