Avoid misuse of social media – NYSC DG cautions corps members

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, has encouraged Corps members to refrain from engaging in frivolous behaviors on social media during their service year and beyond.

Addressing the newly mobilized 2025 Batch A, stream 2 Corps members at the orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, the DG highlighted the importance of responsible social media usage.

He emphasized, “Avoid taking some issues, which can be easily resolved with people around you, and avoid abuse of social media, the consequences of which can be very grievous now and even later in the future.”

Nafiu congratulated the Corps members on their successful completion of their academic programs, which has qualified them for national service. He encouraged them to view their year in the NYSC as an opportunity to prepare for future leadership roles.

He urged the Corps members to exhibit diligence, dedication, and loyalty in serving their country, stating, “You should imbibe the patriotic zeal and be ready to give your best while on national service.”

In his welcome address, NYSC State Coordinator Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa acknowledged the significance of the DG’s visit, noting that it would greatly boost the morale of the enthusiastic Corps members. He reported that 2,290 Corps members are currently participating in the orientation exercise in Kwara State.
