Abdulrasheed Akogun, the Chairman/Publisher of Fresh Insight Media Group, an online media platform based in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has lauded the appointment of core professionals to staff the State-owned media houses.
Akogun, while reacting to the appointments of Ayobami Akanbi, Tajudeen Kayode Aremu and Yomi Clement Adeboye as General Managers of Kwara TV, Radio Kwara and Herald Newspaper, respectively, described the appointment of the trio as round pegs in round holes.
In a statement released on Thursday, the award-winning investigative journalist said, “I received the news of Mr Tajudeen Kayode Aremu and Mr Yomi Clement Adeboye and Mr Razaq Ayobami Akanbi as the General Managers of Radio Kwara (Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation), Herald Newspapers and Kwara Television Authority respectively, with joy and reassurance that the State-owned media houses are firmly in safe hands.
“The professional competence of the trio is not in doubt. Incidentally, they have all worked as staff where they’ve been posted to head.
“I’m hopeful they will bring their wealth of experiences to bear in handling the affairs of the media organisations while they have been given a golden opportunity to champion the renaissance of the media houses.
“As a son of Oke-Ode, Ifelodun LG myself, I especially celebrate the appointment of Mr Razaq Ayobami Akanbi, one of the town’s illustrious sons in the media industry,” he added.
He, however, charged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to provide the necessary support to the new media bosses towards ensuring the State-owned media houses compete favourably with their industry competitors.
