The Commissioner for Works and Transport in Kwara State, Sulaiman Rotimi Illiasu, has described the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as a pragmatic leader and the architect of modern Kwara.

He said the governor’s smart agenda for the state has not only built an unforgettable legacy but also move the state forward.

Rotimi made this known while having an exclusive interview with The Informant247 at his office in Ilorin, the state capital.

Narrating how he met the governor, he said, “I have met the governor and had a cordial relationship with him before he even knows who my father was. We met sometime in 2018 when he wanted to fly down to Lafiagi and he needed the GPS coordinates of the airport. I assisted him with it and that was how we met. We stayed in touch. It was almost after appointing me commissioner that he knew who my father was. That is to show that the governor values quality. Once you prove yourself, you don’t need to know anybody before getting something from him.

He furthered, “And as you know, he is more concern about infrastructural development of Kwara state because he believes with proper facilities in place, investors will come and the state revenue will raise, thereby increasing the state’s prospects. That is why you see we are constructing roads here and there and rehabilitating the bad ones.

“The governor is very transparent. You must follow due process in any assignment he gives you and always encourage us. He is what Kwara needs, I must be honest.”

The commissioner acknowledged the governor’s inclusion of youths in governance.

“Have we witnessed this before? Check our administration and the number of youths. He is someone that believes in the capacity of the youth. If he asks you for nomination, he will specifically tell you the age shouldn’t be more than a certain level. If it is, then he looks elsewhere. The likes of youth like myself and others never had such opportunities before. But today, we are holding critical offices with knowing any ones,” he said.

He enjoined people to re-elect AbdulRazaq to power, insisting that the governor is focused on giving the state a lift and repositioning every sector for better.

“I don’t need to talk much; the people can see what he has done. He needs to finish the numerous projects he started. We have completed many and many are still in progression. We won’t abandon anything. We will finish everything standard. Kwarans have seen the difference. Our impacts have been felt across the state – North, South and Central. We will be voted for massively in 2023. I can bet that,” he added.
