47-yr-old man appears in court over alleged N1.6m fraud in Ibadan

A 47 year old man, one Akin Faleye, on Thursday appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly defrauding a man of N1,615,000.

The defendant, whose address of residence has not been revealed, has been charged with theft and obtaining money under false pretence.

Insp. Olusegun Adegboye who was the Prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant allegedly carried out the offence on July 22, at noon, at Alakia area, Ibadan.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant got the money from one Olukayode Adesugba under the pretence of helping him to get one pump action gun, having disguised as an Arm dealer.

He leveled an allegation that the defendant was not able to get him the action gun.

The prosecutor also added that the offence was in contravention of Sections 419 and 390(9) of criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant has pleaded not guilty to the offence of which he has been charged.

Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, who was the Magistrate, has granted Faleye bail in the sum of N10,000 and one surety in like sum.

She has also adjourned the matter until Dec. 8 for hearing.
