The Zamfara State Police Command has secured the release of 27 persons who were abducted from Gwashi, Kawa, Anka, Tungar Rogo towns in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of Zamfara state.
The victims were regained their freedom after seven days in kidnappers den.
The spokesperson of the police command, SP Muhammad Shehu while handing over the rescued victims to Alhaji Mamman Tsafe in Gusau, the state Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, on Saturday, revealed that the victims regained their freedom unconditionally.
The spokesperson of the police command said the victims were taken to the camps of bandits’ at Anka and Gando/Bagega Sunke forests in Bukkuyum local government areas.
“The rescue was sequel to the report received by the command that a group of bandits invaded the villages and abducted unspecified number of people and took them to Gando/Bagega/ Sunke forests.
“Receiving the report, police deployed additional Tactical operatives to reinforce DPOs Anka/Bukkuyum and vigilante in their rescue operation to rescue the abductees.
“A well coordinated search and rescue operation was carried out with the full support and partnership of the two council sole administrators of Anka and Bukkuyum.
“The outcome of the rescue operation was the unconditional rescue of the 27 kidnap victims.
“Now 17 out of the 27 were presently brought to the police command headquarters while the remaining 10 are in the hospital receiving medical attention, following the trauma they passed through while in captivity.
“All the victims have been debriefed by police detectives,” he explained.
While welcoming the rescued victims, Tsafe appreciated the commissioner of police and other security agencies for their relentless efforts in the combat against bandits and other criminalities in the state.
Tsafe revealed that the effort was part of the dedication and zeal of the Gov. Bello Matawalle’s government in the combat against banditry.
He felicitated with the victims for getting of the captivity and gave an assurance that government’s commitment to continue to back the security agencies in the state to achieve peace and order in the state.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that the Police Command in Zamfara State has secured the release of ten abducted women and a one-year-old child from the den of bandits’ in Gando forest of Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Mr. Kolo Yusuf, the Commissioner of Police, revealed that the operatives of the police were able to secure their release after conducting an extensive security search on Gando forest in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the State.
