Three men – Thankgod John, Ajibola Sulaimon, and Sodiq Awesu were on Wednesday, arraigned by the Lagos police over alleged malicious damage and stealing.
Awesu, 23, Sulaimon, 35; and John, 41; are currently standing trial before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court.
They trio has however, pleaded not guilty before Mr L. J. K. Layeni, the Magistrate.
Dr Simon Uche, the prosecutor, informed the court that defendants carried out the offences on October 14 at the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) site in Ojo.
He added that the defendants triggered malicious damage to and illegally took away the cables from the company.
He said the defendants illegally took away pipes and scaffolding clips worth N1. 65 million, and caused damage to cables worth N450,000.
He said that the complainant, Mr Agemo Oluwasanmi, represented the company.
He said the offences were in contravention of the provisions of Sections 287, 350, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court has given the defendants bail in the sum of N500 000, each with two sureties.
The court has adjourned the matter until Nov. 23 for trial.
