3 Months after commissioning, cracks appear on “Geri-Alimi underpass”

About 3 months after commissioning of the Geri-Alimi diamond split, crack have begin to appear on it surface.

Our correspondent who visited the scene observed that the new underpass, constructed by the Ahmed administration, has partially collapsed at the “upper side that leads to Airport road,”

It appears that the heavy downpour might be the reason for the crack on the bridge.

Motorist plying the road have been technically avoiding the route, looking for alternative as at time of filling this report.

Speaking with a motorist who identified himself as Ibrahim Abdullahi, he said the state of the bridge in less than 3 month of  commission is very pathetic and shows that the material used for the construction are not original.

“The materials are not good, if not a bridge they spent billions on is now collapsing,” he siad

Another motorist who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity urged the government to take quick action to prevent looming danger.

Recall that the immediate past governor, AbdulFatah Ahmed, during commissioning of the project described the underpass as first infrastructure project of its kind and scale in the North Central, outside Abuja, saying it would reduce traffic burden experienced by people, particularly during peak hours and raining season.
